HERNANDO, Fla. — The Citrus County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in an early-morning arson in Hernando. 

  • Man charged with arson in mobile home fire
  • David Johnston arrested 
  • Detectives said he was at scene when firefighters arrived

According to deputies, David Johnston has been charged with arson and criminal mischief after a fire at a residence on North Long Bow Loop. 

When firefighters from Hernando Station Engine 5 arrived to the scene at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, they found a single wide manufactured home fully involved in flames.

The home was destroyed. 

The Fire Marshal's Office quickly determined the cause of the fire was arson. 

Detectives said Johnston was the only person at the scene of the fire when firefighters arrived.  According to the arrest report, Johnston used to live at the home in the past.
