PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A major roadway in Pasco County is so torn up it's damaging cars.

Our Real Time Traffic Expert Chuck Henson was asked to help get the state's attention to the dangerous stretch of road on U.S. 41 north of Ehren Cutoff Rd. in Land O' Lakes.

There is a curve that the pavement is literally falling apart.  Henson said in the past year he has received two chipped windshields at that location.

Joseph Selig owns Sparrow British Auto at the exact spot where the road is crumbling.

"Last couple years, we've seen the surface start to deteriorate. As it's deteriorated you can see it's just starting to create a gravel. Gravel gets on the road. Hits windshields," Selig said.

His driveway is at a 10 percent grade from the road. The gravel gets pushed to the top and cars that try to enter his business get quite the surprise, Selig said.

He said his son won't drive on the road because of the nicks the gravel has caused in his car's paint job.

Henson reached out to Kris Carson with FDOT about the spot.  Carson said they've been sending crews to sweep the area every couple of weeks.  And Selig did say FDOT had been out recently to clean things up.

Carson said the long term fix is essentially right around the corner.

"We have a resurface project that will start this summer on U.S. 41 from Ehren Cutoff to Tower Road," he said.

The $2.5 million project is expected to be completed early next year.
