ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Pink. Yellow. Orange.

A rainbow of flowers were thrown one-by-one into the water beneath the Sunshine Skyway on Sunday in honor of Phoebe Jonchuck.

"I miss you every day," her grandmother, Michele Jonchuck, said while tossing a sunflower into the bay. "Watch over Mama and the rest of the family."

It's a yearly ritual for dozens of bikers to flood the Dick Misener Bridge in Pinellas County, then gather at the rest stop by the fishing pier for a moment of prayer and remembrance. They meet each spring to honor the 5-year-old who died after being thrown from the bridge in 2015.

"Phoebe did not deserve that," Michele Jonchuck said through tears. "She was always happy."

Phoebe's father, John Jonchuck, was found guilty of murder earlier this month. On Friday, his lawyers filed a motion asking for a new trial.

"I feel better in one sense, but with this appeal going on... if they win and they get this appeal, it's going to start all over again," Michele Jonchuck said.

The memorial ride for Phoebe was pushed off until the trail had finished. But it's the question of "what If" that's still hard for Phoebe's grandmother.

"No one's going to get rest, and peace, until it's just done," she said.
