PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Two passengers were seriously injured after a boat crashed into a seawall in South Pasadena Saturday night, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

The operator of the 18-foot center console, Ryan Craft, 24, faces possible BUI charges pending results of a blood draw, according to a preliminary report.

Craft was operating the boat northbound behind 8041 Sailboat Key Boulevard in South Pasadena, which is a slow speed/minimum wake zone, around 6 p.m., when he attempted to turn left westbound toward the Intracoastal Waterway and collided with a seawall, the report stated.

Two of the five occupants on the boat were thrown into the water.  Stephanie Ludwig, 29, suffered serious injuries, however, Melia Garcia, 23, was not injured after being ejected.

Another passenger on the boat, Andrew Mentch, 30, was seriously injured from the collision. He and Ludwig were both transported to Bayfront Health Hospital.

Craft and the fourth passenger on the boat were not injured during the crash.

Officials said speed also appears to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
