ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Skies will be variably cloudy with still some scattered storms overnight into early morning.
Don’t be surprised if rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning wake you up overnight, as any of the storms that form will be heavy and could also produce localized flooding.

Morning lows will be in the mid to upper 70s inland and near 80 at the coast.
Scattered storms will move in from the Gulf of Mexico early, starting in coastal regions and drifting east-northeast through the day.
Skies will be mostly cloudy with highs a little below average in the upper 80s.
That round of storms will shift east or die down, but more scattered storms could form into Thursday evening.
In this muggy environment pattern the storms can pop up at any time.

Along the old stalled front to our north will be a weak low pressure in the northern gulf. That will be drifting northeast on Friday, helping to trigger even more scattered showers and storms.
As a result, expect another day Friday of mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 80s.
The pattern finally changes a bit this weekend. We’ll still have scattered storms, but they will start later in the day and there won’t be as many of them.
Slightly drier air will move into our atmosphere, bringing the coverage of showers and storms down.
Also we’ll have more sunshine this weekend, so it won’t be as gloomy. But keep in mind that means it will be hotter, with highs back into the low 90s.
