TAMPA, Fla. — Nik Wallenda, the King of the High Wire, completed his high-wire walk above the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Thursday afternoon.

Wallenda and his mother, Delilah, walked across a tight rope 150 feet up in the air.

The duo took a little more than 10 minutes to complete the walk, going forwards and even backwards on the wire at one point. Nik even walked over his mother in the middle of the stunt as she knelt down to allow him to cross over her.

Nik also added to the theatrics by laying down on the wire midway through the walk and waving to the assembled crowd.

"We love what we do. This is our passion," Nik Wallenda said.

The performance comes in celebration of the $700 million expansion of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

The Wallendas walked on a tight rope that connects the old and new hotels.

"The reality is it's very dangerous," Nik explained.

Wallenda admitted Tuesday he was nervous about his mother performing on the high wire. She recently had a hip replacement and back surgery, but a doctor gave the OK for her to get back on the tight rope.

Delilah finished her walk in just a few minutes. She then surprised the cheering crowd by stepping back out onto the wire to cross it for a second time.

“I didn’t want to stop. I wanted to continue walking the wire up there," she said.

She had previously announced that Thursday's walk would be her final. After completing the dangerous stunt, she said she may not be done yet after all.

“I don’t know, after doing that one I’m looking forward to getting in even better shape and doing even more," she said.

Other grand opening events include a Friday night concert by Keith Urban and weekend performances from DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Brody Jenner.
