TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa man has been arrested and charged in connection with two rape cases that occurred three years apart.

  • Roytaner Williams charged in two rape cases
  • One occurred in 2016 and one in 2019
  • Police looking for other victims: 813-231-6130

Roytaner Williams, 41, who was arrested in March of this year and charged with rape, has just been connected to a 2016 rape investigation, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Police said Williams was linked to both cases through DNA evidence as well as specific details provided by both victims.

Both victims told detectives details about the suspect's car, including the interior passenger door handle being broken and covered in duct tape.  Police believe Williams was trying to prevent his victims from escaping.

In the 2016 case, the victim said Williams approached her and offered her a ride home, but she declined.  He then forced her into his car and raped her, the police report stated.  She told police she tried to get out of the vehicle but could not open the passenger side door.  She said Williams pushed her back in when she tried to get out through the driver's side door.

In the 2019 case, the victim said she met Williams, who identified himself as "John," in a park in Tampa. After conversing, Williams gave the victim his number and they later went for a ride in his car.  The victim said he gave her a drink and she passed out.  When she awoke, her pants were down and Williams then raped her while she was conscious, according to the police report.  Before the victim passed out, she told police she pleaded with Williams to take her home but he refused.

When questioned by detectives, Williams denied the accusations and even denied having the woman in his car, however, police say that was contradicted by surveillance video and DNA evidence.

Williams was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual battery and two counts of false imprisonment.

Police are now trying to figure out if there are any other victims.  If you or anyone you know is a victim of Williams, you are urged to call Tampa Police at 813-231-6130.
