CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — A 2nd grader in Citrus County is working to make sure no child at his school is forgotten on Christmas.

  • 2nd grader making Christmas stockings for entire school
  • Goal is to make 800 stockings by December 5
  • In need of more items to fill stockings

Hunter Asbury, 8, is making hundreds of Christmas stockings — one for each student.

Asbury, who attends Hernando Elementary School, got the idea last year after attending the school's Winter Wonderland.

For the last few months, Asbury and his mother have been hard at work making stockings. So far, they have made about 300.

Their goal is to make 800 Christmas stockings by the school's next Winter Wonderland event on December 5.

However, they are in need of more items to fill the stockings with, like small stuffed animals, individually wrapped candies, and even some school supplies.

If you'd like to contribute any items, you can drop them off at Hernando Elementary School, the Dunkin Doughnuts on West Main Street, or the Ice Cream DR in Downtown Inverness.
