HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough Community College Professor Beth Wykoff educates some of the Bay Area's oldest students, and she's making all the difference in helping students break out of the classroom and into the workforce.

Wyckoff has been teaching radiography at HCC for over 30 years, and even graduated from the same program.

"For me it was fun. To teach the students and see their faces that they understand what I am saying — it was just fun for me," Wyckoff said.

And it was another teacher in Wyckoff's life that had a profound affect on her future — Sherry Kurzy.

"She knew everything from top to bottom as far as anatomy was concerned. I mean she was strick. I remember when we used to go to clinicals she used to come out and visit us. If you were chewing gum she would put it on her nose. So I don't have to put my gum on my nose -- I see you chewing it," Wyckoff explained.

It's that sense of humor and genuine caring that her students appreciate so much.

"She is just amazing. She is one of the nicest people I've ever met. She is always there for us through the whole two years," Ashley Wilson said.

And thankfully, her students had no trouble finding jobs right after graduation.

"When I walked in the first day on the job. I had to learn like two minutes of computer stuff and I already knew how to do everything, so I walked in and no one could tell it was my first day," James VanCleve said.
