RIVERVIEW, Fla. — Due to the rapid growth in the southern area of Hillsborough County, the Department of Transportation and county officials have partnered to look for traffic congestion solutions near Interstate 75 interchange at Big Bend Road in Riverview.

A public hearing has been set to discuss improvements for the problematic road.

County officials are looking at the roadway's interchange with Interstate 75 and the possibilities of widening it.

Improvements would include widening the road from a 4-lane to a 6-lane divided road. Big Bend Road also would have more bicycle, pedestrian and bus facilities and access.

Any improvements are only in the planning phase so far.

The public hearing regarding the proposed changes is scheduled for Tuesday at South Bay Church, 13498 US 301, Riverview, FL, 33578 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

This study will look at designs that will help to reduce congestion, enhance capacity and safety on I-75 and on Big Bend Road.
