TAMPA, Fla. — Authorities have arrested a man and charged him with first-degree murder after a body was found on a property on East Bay Road last month.

Edgar Martinez, 32, was already in custody on other charges, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Martinez's mobile home is located just feet away from where the body was discovered in the 10000 block of East Bay Road.

Neighbor Jesus Alvarez told us he was shocked to learn Martinez was charged with murder, but he was even more shocked when he found what he believes was the murder weapon tossed along with bullets under his porch.

"I don’t understand. I don’t know if he tried to set up or what he tried to do, because OK, you shot him, you ran, you threw it under my porch. Well, in between that, when did you bury the body?" Alvarez said. "It don’t make sense, so I guess he must have planted it there."

Alvarez went on to say that he and his family will still pay their respects to the dead, though the deceased identity has not been released.

"We’re thinking after everything calms down we’re going to go put flowers for him and everything," he explained. "My kids, they want to go put flowers on him and everything, and we understand he belonged to somebody."

"He was family," Alvarez added. "He may have been in the streets, but everybody in the streets still has a family."

In addition to the first-degree murder charge Monday, Martinez was also charged with felony possession of a firearm and abuse of a dead human body.

He remains in custody at the Orient Road Jail.

The case is still under investigation.
