PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- The Pasco Board of County Commissioners approved a $983,000 economic incentive package for Encompass Health, which is expected to purchase land in the Bexley Ranch Master Planned Unit Development for a new office.

Here are five things to know about this story:

1. About Encompass Health: According to information from the Pasco Economic Development Council, Encompass Health provides facility-based and home-based rehabilitation. The company is made up of 133 hospitals, 245 home health locations, and 82 hospice locations in 37 states and Puerto Rico.

2. The planned Pasco facility: The company is expected to purchase land in the Bexley community to build a 37,000 sqaure-foot-facility for its Central Business Office. CBO Assistant Director Brian Hotham said the office will be home to billing and collecting operations. He said the 179 jobs planned for the facility will be filled by employees who will be relocated from Encompass's Brooksville office. The growth taking place in the area of SR 54 and the Suncoast Parkway is the main reason Hotham said the company picked this site for the relocation. The office will handle business from 25 states. Pasco EDC President and CEO Bill Cronin said the county has been focusing on target industries, including life sciences and medical, and called Encompass a "world-class company."

3. Economic Impact: The $15.2 million project is expected to contribute $10.1 million a year to Pasco's gross county product.

4. Incentive Package: Pasco commissioners unanimously approved an incentive package that includes $234,000 in a job creation incentive for 117 of the new jobs, an estimated $329,000 mobility impact fee waiver, an estimated $290,000 ten-year tangible tax reimbursement, $50,000 in an employee training grant for Pasco-based employees, an $80,000 maximum waiver of Pasco County Building Permit fees, and a rapid response team and expedited permitting.

5. Bexley Location: Cronin said the project will make Bexley a true "live, work, play" community. He said the project is also an example of smart development that can help the county avoid sprawl and improve quality of life.
