PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — Pinellas Park police have arrested a man they said sent inappropriate text messages to a 13-year-old girl.

  • Man, 35, charged with sending inappropriate message to 13-year-old girl
  • Girl's teacher alerted authorities
  • Police said no other students involved

Officials also said it was the teen's teacher who first became concerned.

Kyle Kemp, 35, was arrested Wednesday and charged with transmission of harmful material to a minor, a 3rd degree felony.

According to officials, detectives responded to an unnamed middle school in response to reports of inappropriate text messages.

A teacher at the middle school became aware of the sexually explicit messages when the student refused to put away her cell phone in class. The teacher took the phone from the 13 year old female student at which time the messages were seen.

The teacher having seen the messages reported the information to the schools administration who then contacted police.

Kemp was interviewed and arrested for transmitting several sexually explicit messages to the student. Authorities said Kemp has no connection to the school and investigators are not releasing Kemp's connection to the girl.

Police said there were no other students involved.

Detectives will be working with the Pinellas County State Attorney's Office to obtain a search warrant for Kemp's cell phone to further the investigation.
