ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Several hundred boys and young men who take part in the City of St. Petersburg's Cohort of Champions program will be honored this week.

The program, now in its third year, is a mentoring group for underpriviledged males that goes beyond what they learn in school.

"This program helps these young men with career readiness, job readiness, entrepreneurship, and post secondary education," Richard Prince, the St. Pete Economic Development Coordinator, said.

The city plans to start a similar program for girls in St. Pete in the near future.
