PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — One person died overnight in a house fire in Belleair Bluffs.

According to Largo Fire Rescue, a home in the 400 block of Bluff View Drive. Two people were helped out of the home by firefighters. Investigators said it appears the fire started at 2 a.m. in either in a bedroom or the garage of the $1.3 million Victorian-style home. 

The home sits 100 feet off the road and is heavily covered by trees. Firefighters said about 25 percent of the home's first floor was engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene. 

Before fire fighters pulled out two people, they found a third person who had been trapped in a downstairs bedroom. That person was rushed to the hospital but died overnight.

Officials have not released the name of the person who died.

"The home is large and off the road so getting some hose lines back there took a little more than our typical home because these are larger homes in this area," said District Chief Eric Snell. 

Luckily, all their animals were saved, according to one of the neighbors. 

"I know the mother and the son, and I know all their animals were saved. So that was a good thing. The fire department brought them out pretty promptly," neighbor Dave Legault said. "Pretty emotional day, all in all."

Investigators from the State Fire Marshal's Office arrived to the scene later Monday morning to conduct an investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the residents.
