ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A strong cold front moved south of the area and the coldest air of the season will follow.

Monday was a chilly day across Tampa Bay with high temperatures ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s.

Tuesday will start off chilly with temperatures near freezing for the Nature Coast and near 40 for Tampa Bay. The sun will be out but it will still feel chilly as winds will be out of the north at 10-20 mph. This will lead to choppy conditions along our coast for those with boating interests.

Tuesday night into Wednesday morning will be the coldest of the season. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-30s for Tampa Bay and as low as the upper 20s for the Nature Coast, where a freeze is likely.

We will still be wearing our jackets Wednesday afternoon as temperatures struggle to 60 degrees.

Winds will shift more southerly on Thursday. This means clouds will increase earlier in the day and warmer weather arrives. Temperatures are expected to peak into the low 70s.

The next cold front swings through on Friday. We expect a few showers as the front pushes through.

It turns cooler but not cold over the weekend with highs in the mid to upper 60s.
