SAN ANTONIO, Fla. —  A 3-year-old girl remains hospitalized after a Pasco County that killed her brother and grandfather.

According to Pasco County Fire Rescue, 62-year-old Donald Maeir and a 5-year-old Zayden died due to the fire.

Firefighters responded to the home in the 29700 Block of Darby Road in San Antonio just after 10 p.m. Friday. 

When crews arrived, the found heavy smoke coming from the home and an adult and two children inside the home. 

Fire officials said firefighters found Maeir in the home in less than 90 seconds.

Crews pulled Maeir from the home and rendered aid in the front yard. While attending to him, they were alerted by neighbors to the children inside the house.

Firefighters quickly returned into the home and located the two children inside. Both of those children were flown to Tampa General Hospital.

Maeir was transported by ground to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There were also 11 dogs on the property. One adult male dog and eight puppies also perished in the overnight fire. The two other dogs are being cared for by Pasco County Animal Control.

The fire remains under investigation.
