Tampa has put new rules in place for renting practice fields for some team sports, but those who use fields in unincorporated Hillsborough County are still waiting for a plan.

The Henderson family says the county is taking too long to act.

“I feel they’re not listening to people and their constituents as far as what’s important to us,” said parent Michelle Henderson.

Her 12-year-old son Jacob plays baseball for a little league team at Ed Radice Sports Complex.

“Baseball is what I love to do most,” Jacob said.

Jacob’s father and coach says it’s important for the youth teams to get back to some sort of normalcy.

“Youth sports is not just about playing baseball, it’s about spending time with your friends, it’s about spending time with your family, its about learning team play,” said Kyle Henderson.

A Hillsborough County spokesman said administrators are working on a plan. They’re coordinating with little league teams, taking a look at staffing, and trying to figure out the best way to keep people safe.

A plan to reopen some playing fields in Hillsborough County could come later this week.
