TAMPA, Fla. — Get your popcorn, and pop your trunk.

What’s old is new again at the Drive-In at Armature Works.

What You Need To Know

  • The drive-in offers a safe alternative to watch movies on a big screen

  • Drive-In at Armature was started by Rooftop Cinema Club

  • The popular temporary drive-in has been extended until November 15

  • Customers can watch from outside their cars but must wear masks

Two movies are played each night on a 52-foot screen for folks sitting in their cars or just outside them.

“Since we haven’t been able to go the movies lately, this is the perfect alternative,” said Erin Nicolai, who came out to a showing of Ghostbuster on Wednesday night.

The drive-in was started by the Rooftop Cinema Club on October 15. The company usually does roof events across the country, but it has added this new drive-in as a safe way to show movies, at a distance, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, it’s been a “blockbuster” hit.

“I think people just want to be able to get out,” manager Hannah Richard said. “We’re doing it safely. It’s working out really well.”

Cars are spaced out by 10 feet for social distancing. You can watch outside your car, but masks are required.

The temporary drive-in was supposed to close this weekend. But due to popularity, it’s been extended to November 15.

Tickets start at $22. Films are shown at 7:15 and 10:00 p.m. Eastern Tine. Concessions and food from Armature Works is available.
