PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — There are more than 200,000 seniors in Pinellas County.

And for many, it's been quite the struggle to get an appointment for the coronavirus vaccine.

But the county got a new shipment and residents can try to sign up again Friday afternoon.

What You Need To Know

This has been a frustrating process for many seniors.

The main issue has been the sheer number of people trying to all make appointments at the same time, crashing the system.

There is a patient portal residents will use to register and set an appointment.

The county received 10,000 doses of the vaccine from the state for this round of vaccines.

Seniors can currently access the patient portal to create your account, but you will have to wait until 3 p.m. Friday to actually set your appointment. When you do that, you will also make your appointment for your second dose, which is required.

The county recently signed the contract with this software company to help alleviate the issues people were having logging on but even this new system had issues over the weekend.

You will need to act fast if you want an appointment, there is no waiting list and slots for the other registrations filled up fast.

Pinellas county paramedics will help administer the vaccines. They will open four vaccination sites around the county.
