TAMPA, Fla. — As the start of Wrestlemania tonight approaches, efforts to ensure the safety of the event have stepped up.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said it will have additional patrols, including K-9 units, at event site Raymond James Stadium and surrounding areas.

WWE superstar Titus O’Neal and Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said they want people to remember this is a family event and act accordingly.

The show is expected to draw a socially distanced sellout 25,000 visitors Saturday and Sunday nights. That is not quite the same capacity as a usual WrestleMania crowd, this will be the first time fans can see WWE in-person in more than a year.

WWE is following many of the Super Bowl protocols for this event.  Fans will be seated in pods for social distancing. Masks and temperature checks will also be required for fans.
