TAMPA, Fla. — Hurricane season is less than two weeks away and Bay area stores are reporting no shortages of any hurricane related supplies.

Sharon Kristin, a Home Depot manager on Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, said now is the time to stock up.

"I would take inventory of what you do have in your home now, and then really pick up the items you need on your next visit,” Kristin said.

What You Need To Know

  • Hurricane season starts June 1

  • Despite some supply chain issues, Bay area stores say hurricane supplies are in stock

  • Storm Season 2021

Sporadic shortages of supplies persisted last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and earlier this year because of the prolonged freeze event that hit Texas.

But today, supplies have been replenished in the Bay area as hurricane season looms.

Although emergency supplies can vary from family to family, the must haves include:

  • Flashlights
  • Batteries
  • Charging cables
  • Portable power banks
  • First Aid Kit
  • AM/FM radio, battery or solar powered
  • Wet Wipes
  • Water
  • Generator
  • Charcoal and lighter fluid
  • Propane tank
  • Gas cans

And it isn't just about getting supplies together before hurricane season begins.

Important documents, medications, plans for your pets and an evacuation plan including where you are going and how you are getting there are all crucial before a hurricane strikes.
