TAMPA, Fla. — Several Bay Area businesses put their time and resources together to feed the homeless on Thanksgiving Day.

“We’re making pastas. I'm making my famous jambalaya,” said Chef J. Magic. “I’m preparing my portion of the meal in my food truck.”

Private chefs and local catering companies put together a hefty Thanksgiving meal, with dessert for a homeless community in East Tampa.

“We’ve done this for 5 years now,” said Marlon Wright, owner of the restaurant 7th and Grove. “We have turkey, ham, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, yams, corn bread, anything you can name. It’s a real Thanksgiving meal.”

Wright and his wife, Vondalyn Wright, who owns Health Matters Pharmacy, said that giving back to the community is a great way to show up for others.

“On December 3, we have a toy drive at 7th and Grove," said Wright. “A lot of local businessmen and promoters are getting together. All the proceeds go to underprivileged kids.”

Volunteers that helped to serve the meals was also a big part of the day. They set tables up, with over 10 different options for food and dessert around noon Thursday.

They served dozens of homeless people on Thanksgiving.

“It’s a good thing to be a part of,” said Chef J. Magic. “I like putting back into my community.”

A total of seven different businesses participated.
