NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — More than a hundred Christmas trees are now lining downtown New Port Richey.

It’s for the second annual “Light Up Downtown,” which raises money to give families in need of a good Christmas.

What You Need To Know

  • Light Up Downtown is organized by HUBLife Charities.

  • Funds for the trees are donated by local businesses. Money raised goes to families in need for Christmas.

  • Tree lighting ceremony is Friday 12/3 at 6:30 PM in Sims Park.

Regan Weiss hopes to make setting up these trees a new Christmas tradition.

“It’s a good feeling. New Port Richey, comes together, comes together like no other community. I’d put anything on that,” Weiss said.

He helped first start this event last year along with his business partner =, Joey Deeb.

The two own Templar Contracting. Through that, they started HUBLife Charities, which organized this fundraiser. The money raised will go to families who can use some help for gifts or meals for the holidays.

“It’s a feeling of total fulfillment. This is why we do what we do,” Deeb said.

More than 100 local companies and groups donated funds to get a tree they can decorate for the park.

And they won’t just be for decoration. The trees will stay out until December 22nd. Then, Regan says they’ll be delivered to families who don’t have a Christmas tree.

“To see the community come together, for the betterment of the community, it hits all of us. It’s something we’re all grateful for,” Weiss said.

On Friday, all of the trees will be lit in a tree lighting celebration. It’s at 6:30 p.m. at Sims Park.
