A new outdoor public dance floor has been installed at Akron’s Lock 4 park.

What You Need To Know

  • A new public dance floor is in place at Akron's Lock 4 park

  • It's the first and only of its kind in America, according to organizers

  • The installation will only be around until October

The installation includes a large bluetooth speaker that anyone can connect to and play their favorite music.

It was created by Swedish architectural collaborative Dansbana! with FRONT International in hopes to get people out and on their feet.

“This is the first and only in the U.S.,” said FRONT International's Annie Wischmeyer. “They have done Dansbanas in Sweden, Istanbul and other European countries, but this is the first one state-side.”

The dance floor is a part of artistic presentations happening all across northeast Ohio hosted by FRONT international and it lasts until Oct. 2.

“We have over 100 artists and 30 venues across Akron, Cleveland and Oberlin,” Wischmeyer said.

The dance floor is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is free for anyone to use.
