After the day began with two mercy-ruled games, the Class 5A state semifinals provided a treat for baseball fans.

Melbourne Central Catholic battled Bolles in the first semi. Scoreless til the fifth inning, with one out for Bolles and runners on first and second, the Bulldogs score the first run of the game thanks to the Hustlers second-straight throwing error. A squeeze bunt would make it 2-0 Bolles.

The Bulldogs tacked on three runs in the sixth and held on to win 5-0.

In the other 5A semifinal, Monsignor Pace faced an emotional Bishop Moore team, a team playing for Joe, their teammate Joe Skinner who lost his battle with cancer.

There was a moment of silence before the game for Joe.

The game featured a pitching duel between the Spartans and Hornets. Bishop Moore finally put a runner on base in the third when Parker Thompson was hit by a pitch, but he' was left stranded.

Monsignor Pace got the first hit of the game in the top of the fourth and Andres Sanchez followed it up with a deep shot to centerfield where Rigsby Mosley robbed him of a hit with a diving catch.

Top of the sixth, bases loaded for Monsignor Pace, a passed ball scored the first, and only run of the game. Monsignor Pace wins 1-0.

They will play Bolles for the 5A title LIVE on BHSN (Channel 47/HD 1147) Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
