The offseason headlines have been dominated by quarterbacks, whether it's about which QB will go at the top of the NFL draft, or which signal callers will be signing with new teams in free agency, which officially opens Wednesday.

The quarterback rumor mill is off to an exciting start, with the news of Kirk Cousins potentially landing in Minnesota trending on Twitter by midday Tuesday.  The former Redskins quarterback will replace Case Keenum, who led the Vikings to the NFC Championship game last year.  Keenum is expected to sign with the Denver Broncos.

One future Hall-of-Famer is off the market, as sources say Drew Brees will sign a 2-year extension with the Saints.  Brees, who turned 39 in January, was never expected to leave the Saints, but there were whisperings of teams interested in trying to pry away the 11-time Pro Bowler from New Orleans.  The contract is reportedly for $50M over the two years.

Cousins is expected to become the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history, with reports saying that he will sign a 3-year, $84M deal which is fully guaranteed with the Vikings.  Cousins was also expected to attract interest from the Jets, Cardinals and Browns, amongst others.  Cousins' agent did not confirm the agreement, only saying that his client would be visiting Minnesota first when free agency opens.

The six-year veteran has thrown for over 4,000 yards and 25 TDs each of the last three seasons, with the Vikings hoping that the former 4th-round pick out of Michigan State can make a triumphant return to the Midwest and be the missing piece for a Vikings franchise that has not been to the Super Bowl since 1976.

This displaced Vikings starter Keenum had a renaissance year in 2017.  In his 5th season in the NFL, the former journeyman set career highs in every passing category, throwing for over 3,500 yards and 22 TD.  The former Houston Cougar college standout is expected to sign with his fourth different franchise tomorrow, after spending time with the Texans, Rams and Vikings.  The Broncos hope that Keenum can end the QB carousel they've been going through since Peyton Manning's retirement.

Those three quarterbacks were ESPN's top-rated potential free agents.  Other quarterbacks who could potentially change teams: Sam Bradford (Vikings), Teddy Bridgewater (Vikings), A.J. McCarron (Bengals) and Josh McCown (Jets).
