TAMPA, Fla. -- Expect partly skies into early Monday morning. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s.

  • Storms may start earlier on Monday
  • Skies will be mostly cloudy

The east wind pattern will continue into Labor Day. But there will be more moisture overhead. The tropical wave to our southeast will be passing by to our south possibly as a depression Monday.

It will increase the moisture, which in turn will result in a higher coverage of showers and storms passing through the area. Storms may start earlier on Monday.

Showers and storms will move at a fast pace from east to west, but there may be several rounds of storms. Storms will likely bring strong gusty winds as they move westward. Expect the coverage of storms up to about 70 percent Monday. Skies will be mostly cloudy and it will be breezy.

South Florida will see even heavier rains.

Some showers and a few storms will be possible Monday evening and into overnight. It stays breezy as the tropical system moves into the southern Gulf.

On Tuesday, the tropical system moves northwest through the Gulf, possibly as a tropical storm. It will continue moving away from Florida through Tuesday.

The deep moisture associated with it though may linger, especially in our coastal areas. Skies will stay mostly cloudy, and rain chances will be a little higher in the coastal areas compared to inland.

Winds will continue out of the east, so storms will move from east to west. Highs will be near 90.

Behind that wave the moisture will slowly decrease with rain chances down to about 50 percent Wednesday and then 40 percent by Thursday.

But even when the rain chances decrease the pattern will remain the same where the storms are in the afternoon to evening and move westward toward the Gulf. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s most days.

The pattern looks like it will continue through next weekend. Winds are likely to be lighter allowing for a normal summertime sea breeze starting Friday.
