Barb Bergin was born and raised in Colorado. She attended J.C. Stone Law Enforcement Academy in Orlando in 1983, and was sworn in as an Orlando police officer on Sept. 3, 1983.
Her career has included 8½ years in uniformed patrol, primarily working the west side of Orlando.
The patrol assignment was followed by 12 years as a detective, 1½ years in the sex crimes unit and 10½ years in the homicide unit.
Prior to retiring in February of 2009 Barb Bergin was assigned to Central Florida CrimeLine as the Law Enforcement Coordinator.
Currently, Bergin is the Executive Director of CrimeLine. She has attended Valencia Community College and Rollins Hamilton Holt College. She is an instructor at Valencia Community College Criminal Justice Academy, as well as Central Florida Criminal Justice Academy in Ocala.
In her spare time, she enjoys riding her Harley, playing golf, traveling and taking care of the pool and yard.
