Every ten years, Florida's political boundaries are redrawn to reflect changes in the population.
This year, the Florida Legislature generated new maps that will affect the 120-seat House, 40-seat Senate and Florida's 27 congressional seats.
The process is complicated by a new pair of constitutional amendments passed in 2010 that aim to prevent gerrymandering, or the redrawing of voting lines to establish political advantage.
The Florida Supreme Court rejected the Senate's proposed redistricting map on March 9, setting the stage for a special session.
