A woman’s Dover home will be demolished after a SUV plowed through the front of the house Christmas morning.

The home is set to be demolished but a date to tear down the house has not been set as of yet.

Dorothy Ussery and her son are trying to focus on the positive. But without anywhere to go, she’s asking for help.

It happened around 3 a.m. Christmas morning. Dorothy Ussery and her son Timothy were both sound asleep.

"I was laying in my bed and I heard this horrible noise," Dorothy said. "I mean, it’s something I don’t think I’ve ever heard before,”

Dorothy says at first, she thought a tree fell on her house, which is located in the 3200 block of Moores Lake Road. it was only when her son came rushing into her bedroom to get her out that she saw what had happened.

According to Hillsborough County deputies, the driver of a SUV had a medical emergency behind the wheel, lost control, and crashed into a vacant house next door first, then plowed through the front of Dorothy’s house. Deputies said the SUV was traveling at about 90 mph at the time of the crash.

That driver suffered only minor injuries.

Dorothy said many of her valuable belongings were destroyed. Meanwhile, county inspectors have deemed the house unsafe.

Since Christmas, Dorothy’s family and neighbors helped her move out whatever was salvageable, but with no homeowner's insurance and no savings to fall back on, she doesn’t know what she and her son will do.

"I don’t know, I don’t know what’s going to happen," Dorothy said. "I have no idea. I’m just going to have to see."
