A 45-year-old New Port Richey woman was killed early Saturday when his pickup truck left State Road 50 and hit a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was traveling east on U.S. 50, west of U.S. 19, round 6:45 a.m. in a 2004 Nissan Frontier.

The truck left the road, and the driver over-corrected, causing the truck to spin onto the south shoulder, troopers said.

The truck then overturned and crashed into a tree with its roof. The driver died at the scene, according to the FHP.
