Katya Guillaume joined Spectrum Bay News 9 in June 2020 as the Hernando/Citrus County bureau reporter, but she’s always been a Florida girl at heart.

Growing up in Tampa, Katya is proud to call the Tampa Bay area home.  She knows the value of being part of a community full of diversity, rich history and tales yet to be told. For Katya, it is a privilege to meet the people and to share their stories along the Nature Coast.

Katya returns home from Albany, New York where she worked as a Digital Sports Reporter writing and producing the web segment, “Digital First.” Additionally, she also filled in as Sports anchor and provided special segments and elements for local sports coverage.

Katya received her bachelor’s degree from The University of South Florida. She says Green and Gold run through her veins, (GO BULLS!). During her time at USF, she spent most of her time with the athletics department.

Katya is a sports fanatic and is either catching up on the latest sports news or catching the next game on TV especially during football, basketball and hockey seasons!  Katya is an avid Bulls fan and when her schedule allows, you can catch her rooting for the New York Jets (even if they need work), sideline of a USF football, baseball or basketball game, or cheering on her cousin at a Tampa Bay Lightning game (Go Bolts!!!).

She is also proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Association of Black Journalist, Famn Kreyol Incorporated and likes to get involved in community service. In her spare time, you can also find Katya in the kitchen or trying out any of the local restaurants in town, when she’s not busy travelling.
