BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A man taking part in a public alligator hunt in Palm Bay on Saturday incurred a "major bite" and was airlifted to a hospital, Florida wildlife officers say.

The bite happened at about 8:30 p.m. near the Three Forks Conservation Area entrance on Malabar Road, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
Justin Perchalski was pulling a gator next to his vessel when it grabbed his hand, and he incurred a "major bite," FWC spokesman Greg Workman said Sunday morning.
The 30-year-old victim was flown to Health First's Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.
