Police: Teen riding bike killed by hit-and-run driver

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) — Police in South Florida now say a 14-year-old boy was killed in a bicycle accident that didn't involve a hit-and-run.

Pembroke Pines police spokeswoman Amanda Conwell tells news outlets that an investigation and medical evidence found that Bora Duz died during a bike riding accident on Monday night. The boy was taken to a hospital where he died.

A passerby found the child and called 911 and police initially believed it was a hit-and-run accident.

Naim Shabani, a friend of the boy's family, tells the Sun Sentinel that he was about a half-mile from his home when the accident occurred.

Pembroke Pines is a suburb of Fort Lauderdale.
