ORLANDO, Fla. --The 10th annual Polar Plunge fundraiser was held Saturday morning at Aquatica Orlando.

Hundreds of participants jumped into the chilly wave pools at the water park, raising money for Special Olympics Florida.

The money raised from the event is used to provide training and competition training for more than 48,000 Special Olympics athletes.

"Freezing for a reason and Special Olympics is a good reason to be part of this fundraiser and to know more about the program and what it actually means for people like me," special olympics athlete Eric Taylor said. "[I] used to be in a wheelchair and because of the program, I'm not in a wheelchair anymore. So just to be here and see everybody's smiles and fellow athletes come out for this, it's just great."
