ORLANDO, Fla. -- Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditoriums will celebrate turning 100 on Wednesday by randomly handing out $100 bills at its attractions across the country.

  • Anyone 100 years or older will get free admission

The date marks the 100th anniversary of Robert Ripley's first Believe It or Not! cartoon strip, which was published on December 19, 1918.

Ripley's also will be giving free admission to anyone whose birthday is on December 19 and to people who are 100 years old or older.

The promotion will be available at Ripley's Florida locations — Orlando, Key West, Panama City Beach — as well as locations in in California, New York, South Carolina and Texas. For a full list of locations, visit www.ripleys.com/100s.

Robert Ripley was known as a world traveler, having visited more than 200 countries in 35 years. He collected stories of odd and unusual things. Ripley also had a career in broadcast and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for radio.
