HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — The Ed Radice Sports Complex is one of two Hillsborough County sites offering the vaccine to teachers under 50 years old and the county expects this site to be flooded with teachers on Monday because they have the day off for the Florida Strawberry Festival Day.

What You Need To Know

Teachers, regardless of age, started to get the vaccine last week at federal sites that opened in Florida, as well as any location supplied by the federal pharmacy program — that's CVS, Walgreens, Publix, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Winn-Dixie.

Hillsborough County expanded that even more to include teachers of any age at the Ed Radice and Vance Vogel sports complexes.

All of this is thanks to a flood of vaccines now available, including 175,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine.

Appointments are still necessary at county-run sites in Hillsborough County, however, the federal site at Tampa's Greyhound Track is a walk-up site where appointments are optional.

President Joe Biden wants all teachers to be fully vaccinated by April and the president says vaccine should be available for every adult in the U.S. by May.
