TAMPA, Fla. — The human remains found in McKay Bay in Tampa have been identified and the medical examiner has ruled the case a homicide, according to authorities.

In a press release sent to the media early Saturday morning, Tampa Police Department’s Public Information Officer Jamel Lanee’ identified the victim as Stephanie Crone-Overholts.

While Lanee’ stated that no other details will be released at this time, she did state that the medical examiner has ruled the case as a homicide.

The unique case started when body parts were found in McKay Bay off of Licata Bridge in Tampa on Friday, Nov. 11.

The Tampa Police Department at that time released an image of a tattoo that showed three hearts with the names Sean, Greg and Zach. Authorities said the tattoo was located on a lower right thigh.

The body part was found in the water by a fisherman by the 22nd Street Causeway Bridge. Eventually, additional body parts were discover in the water.

In a previous update, authorities found a silver 2008 Hyundai Elantra believed to be connected to the case.

That car has the Pennsylvania license plate HDE-6564. Police believe whoever was driving the car may be involved in the case, but police have not confirmed if the car was reported stolen or who was driving it when the picture was taken.
