Garry Winogrand is considered a grandfather of the street photography genre. His show “Women are Beautiful” is on display at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts in Tampa through December 31.

- The new genre arose in the second half of the 20th century when technology made cameras better and smaller.

- Many of the photographs are of women in everyday life in New York City.

- The candid pictures are considered of great documentary value.

- The photos were also controversial. They showed the sexual qualities in women— which was considered revolutionary at that time.
