Three people escaped a house fire that broke out early Wednesday morning in Homosassa.

The fire broke out at a home on Melanie Drive in Homosassa shortly after midnight, officials said.

When crews arrived, they found most of the 1,000-square-foot home involved in flame.  Crews were able to get the fire under control shortly before 1 a.m.

The three people who were inside the house at the time of the fire were able to get out without injury.  The Red Cross and Salvation Army were contacted to help them.

Officials said it does not appear that the cause of the fire was suspicious.
