A historic tree officially has a new spot.

The tree, moved on a large platform, had to shift about 400 feet to make room for a new athletic facility at the University of Tampa.

The 65-foot oak tree is considered a "grand tree" by the city, which means it can't be cut down.

It took several months of planning to move the big oak tree.

After its re-planting, a 5 year maintenance plan will make sure the tree is taking root in its new place.

Two other big oak trees were relocated at UT in 2000. Despite being uprooted, both of those oaks are striving.
