A helicopter crashed in the Lealman area of Lealman Tuesday night.

It happened at 46th Avenue N. and 35 Street N. The call came in shortly before 7 p.m.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, the pilot, identified as 60-year-old Wayne Park, was operating a Hughes 300-type aircraft.

Deputies say Park, the owner of A1 Key & Safe, was attempting to move the two-seater helicopter by hovering it to another location on his property when he reportedly lost a tail rotor and went into a spin, crashing into a fence.

He was not injured. There were also no reports of injuries on the ground.

Fire officials say there were no fuel spilled and no fire at the crash scene.

Officials say Park, a longtime pilot, was fortunate to walk away from the crash.

The FAA and the NTSB will conduct an investigation.
