Primary elections across the state of Florida are in the books. The results are in on most of the state's primary races.

COMPLETE ELECTION RESULTS

One of the biggest races on the ballot was for U.S. Senate. On the Republican ballot, voters chose Connie Mack IV over Marielena Stuart, Mike McCalister and Dave Weldon. On the Democratic side, voters chose longtime incumbent Senator Bill Nelson over Glenn Burkett. Mack and Nelson will now face each other for the Senate seat in November.

Hillsborough County

One of the first unofficial winners of the evening was State Sen. Ronda Storms, who defeated Rob Turner by a wide margin in the Republican primary for Hillsborough County Property Appraiser. Read more

Pasco County

In Pasco County, current Sheriff Chris Nocco rolled to a GOP primary victory. He was opposed by Roger Fortney and Maurice Radford. He'll face democrat Kim Bogart in the general election. Read more

Pinellas County

Current Pinellas Co. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri won his race after Everett Rice conceded early in the evening.

Also problems with a modem delayed numbers from coming in electronically from voting precincts around the county. The memory sticks that held the results had to be driven in from each polling place.  Read more

Manatee County

In Manatee County, Brad Steube holds on to his seat with 78 percent of the votes. With only republicans in the race, there is no general election.

Also in Manatee County, unofficial results have Betsy Benac defeating longtime commissioner Joe McClash in Manatee Co. District 7 by a vote of 51 percent to 49 percent. Only about 500 votes separated the two candidates. Read more

Polk County

In Polk County, Kelli Stargel won the State Senate District 15 GOP primary. Read more

Citrus County

Winn Webb won the Republican primary in the sheriff's race. He will face Citrus County Sheriff Jeff Dawsy in the general election. Read more

Hernando County

Al Nienhuis beat Bobby Sullivan in the sheriff's race and will move onto the general election in November. Read more

Orlando area

In the Orlando area, Casey Anthony prosecutor Jeff Ashton defeated longtime state attorney  Lawson Lamar in their primary election, but an even bigger surprise may have come when Casey's father, George, showed up to congratulate Ashton himself. -- MORE
