A former employee at Tampa's Central Command has pleaded guilty to trying to entice a teenage boy to engage in sexual activity.

Stephen Governale, 49, was employed in the Protocol Office at MacDill Air Force Base last October when the FBI said he traveled to Orlando with the intention of meeting a 17-year-old boy for sex.

Federal investigators said the teen told them he met Governale through an organization affiliated with the military. Investigators said he said he had attended a military conference with Governale and stayed in his hotel room, during which time they watched pornographic movies and engaged in sexual activity.

The FBI said they became aware of the relationship after the teen's parents found Facebook messages between the two.

Governale is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years with the possibility of life in federal prison.  His sentencing hearing has been set for June 13.
