Heavy smoke from a mulch fire caused officials to briefly close a section of Cobb Road in Brooksville.

Officials said they received a call about the fire at around 2:45 p.m. Monday.

The fire broke out in about 400,000 cubic yards of natural vegetation that had been stockpiled on property located at 10440 Camp Mine Road.

The road was reopened shortly before 10 p.m.

Officials said a "significant amount" of smoke could linger in the area for the next couple of days.
