Pasco Sheriff's deputies and Pasco Animal Control are investigating a case where a 10-month old baby was attacked by a neighbor's dog.

The incident occurred on the 2100 block of Ranchita Trail in Holiday around 2 p.m. Friday but was not reported to deputies until later in the evening.

The child was taken to a local hospital with bites to his head and shoulder.

According to preliminary information, deputies say the child's mother and neighbor were outside the home when they heard the dog growling inside.

When they entered the home, deputies say they found the dog attacking the child. The dog is reportedly a pit bull breed.

Pasco Animal Control is scheduled to take the dog for observation.
