A 1-year-old girl died after deputies said she wandered out of her Spring Hill home and fell into the family's pool.

The incident happened Friday afternoon at a home on Belmont Road.

Deputies said the parents were preparing dinner when they realized "it got too quiet." They started looking for their daughter, and the mother found her floating in the in-ground pool, the report said.

The mother pulled the girl from the pool and started performing CPR while the father called 911.

Emergency crews took the baby to Oak Hill Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:38 p.m.

Deputies said it appears as though the door to the lanai was either left open or ajar, which gave the girl access to the pool area.  The door secures tightly and could not have otherwise been manipulated by the girl, deputies said.

The investigation continues.
