A 17-year-old boy was shot to death in south St. Petersburg early Saturday, police said.
Around 2:40 a.m. Saturday, a passerby reported hearing a gunshot coming from a pedestrian overpass that spans 34th Street S. The passerby investigated and found a teen later identified as Donald Avery of St. Petersburg with an upper-body gunshot wound, police said.
Avery was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives are investigating.
