Tampa police arrested a man and charged him with arson today after an investigation into an apartment fire Sunday night.

According to police, 58-year-old Kenneth Haskins was charged in the fire at the Mar Plaza Apartments at 4817 E. Temple Heights Road.

Officials said Haskins, who lived in the unit where the fire started, made statements to the investigators that he was upset with the management company.

There were no injuries reported.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the kitchen and bedroom of a unit on the second floor. The two story building is an affordable living complex for the elderly.

While some firefighters put out the fire, others evacuated the rest of the building. Tampa Police officers assisted in the evacuation of 28 units.

Four units, including Haskins', were damaged. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents of the other three units.  The other residents were allowed to return to their homes.

After the Fire Marshal's investigation, authorities charged Haskins due to statements he made and evidence found at the scene.
